John Edward Keown, 78, formally of Tell City, passed away October 16, 2018 at his home in New Port Richey, Florida. He was born in Perry County, Indiana on March 17, 1940 to Edward and Dessa (Allen) Keown. John was a Vietnam veteran, retiring from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of service.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post 2939 and enjoyed sky diving and spending time with his family. Surviving is his mother, Dessa Keown, Tell City; his children, Edward Keown, League City, Texas, Cindy Fulkerson and Keith Keown, both of Evansville; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Brandon, Jeffery and Michael Keown; four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Shiloh, Jackson and Callie Keown. Preceding him in death was his father and two sisters, Katherine Bauer and Margaret Phelps.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the Wounded Warrior Fund or Gulfside Center for Hospice Care.
