John E. “Jack” Whalen was born on October 7, 1934, in Apple River, Illinois to William and Julie (nee Holland) Whalen. He died Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Moorings in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Mr. Whalen worked at Aon Insurance, formerly Combined Insurance Company of America.

He was a member of Fr. Ryan Council Knights of Columbus where he was a former Grand Knight. John is survived by his spouse of 52 years, Caroline M. (nee Kretz) Whalen; his sister-in-law, Mary C. Girard, his brothers-In-Law, Albert (Alice) Kretz, and William (Joan) Kretz; and his many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation from 9:00 am until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 700 S. Meier Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Interment All Saints, Des Plaines, Illinois.
