Visitation for John F. Strong 78 of Fort Dodge, formerly of Moorland will be Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Private family graveside services will be held at Union Cemetery in Humboldt following the visitation. John died at his daughters home in Fort Dodge on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

John Fred Strong was born May 15, 1940 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Fred and Elnora (Laurel) Strong. He grew up in the Fort Dodge area and graduated from Cedar Valley High School. John was united in marriage to JoAnne Butrick on November 27, 1962 in Dakota City, Nebraska.

John was employed by New Idea (AVCO) for several years before working at IBP for 21 years. After IBP closed, he worked at Trinity Regional for a short time. He then worked at the Labs in Fort Dodge for 18 years and retired.

After retirement, you could find John and JoAnne riding his big red Honda motorcycle daily, going to Tom Thumb for pie. John also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and especially his trees. John is survived by his daughters; Roxanne (Elton) Hurtt of Fort Dodge, Trisha Buffington of Fort Dodge, Rachel Peterson of Barnum and Dawn (Don) Riley of Badger.

He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife JoAnne, son Rickey Strong and daughter Michelle Fredericksen. Historic Bruce Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
