John Filipiak, age 60, of Geneva, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, very unexpectedly at home. He was born November 8, 1957 in Chicago, the son of Henry and Tillie (Depa) Filipiak. John loved his work as a groundskeeper at Naperville North High School.

He loved traveling and listening to Bob Dylan music. He was a kind man who found great joy “paying it forward”. He loved his dog Lola, and was most happy spending time with his family and friends.

He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Sally (Kohn); sons Andy and Tyler both of Geneva; sisters Kathy (Joy) of Hampshire, Mary Ann (Mike) Kirk of Elizabeth, and Gloria (Gary) Kubik of Georgia; sister-in-law Pam of Minnesota; mother Tillie of Hampshire; and many other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Henry and brother Jim.

Memorial service for John will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street, Geneva with John Schuller officiating. Interment will be held privately. Visitation will be held Friday, October 19 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home.
