John’s Obituary John Horace Hickman, 79 of Mooringsport, Louisiana passed away on March 20, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Mooringsport Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Chris Charles.

Burial will follow at Slaughter Cemetery in Rodessa, LA. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 PM on Saturday the 23rd at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, Louisiana. John was born on April 2, 1939 in Shreveport, LA to John and Dora Hickman.

John lived in Pine Island in North Caddo Parish for most of his life. He has lived in Mooringsport for the last 21 years, and was member of the Mooringsport Methodist Church. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local #237 Texarkana.

He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. John was a hard worker and wonderful husband. He built a huge 40’X50’ metal building shop by himself.

He could fix anything and would help anyone. John is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Albert Moore, Margaret Ethridge, Gloria Jean Harriman, Helen Goza, and William Moore, his grandson, Blake Hickman, and his stepdaughter Devon Oliver and husband Jackie. He is survived by his wife Joyce McCreery Hickman of Mooringsport, LA, his three children, Susan Hickman Crenshaw and husband Fred of Hallsville, TX, John Paul Hickman and Jamie of Vivian, LA, and Darren Hickman of Vivian, LA, his two step-daughters, Joelina Griffin and husband George of Corpus Christie, TX and Jackie Paddie and husband David of Oil City, LA, one step son, Jerry A. Oliver Jr. of Mooringsport, LA, two sisters Claudia Clay of Hosston, LA, and Marcia “Marcy” Chelette and husband Rick of Hosston, LA, and one brother, Lawrence Hickman and wife Bonnie of Harleton, TX.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Clay Clark, Matthew Clark, Jerry A. Oliver Jr., Steve Thompson, Roscoe Clay, and Tommy Moore.
