John A. Heinlein, Jr. (Jack Heinlein) On Monday, April 30th, 2018, John A. Heinlein, Jr. (Jack Heinlein), age 72 went to meet our Lord and Savior after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Jack passed away in his Louisville, KY residence surrounded by his wife of 38 years, Donna (Falbo) Heinlein, his son, John A. Heinlein, III of Greensboro, NC and his devoted dachshund, Bentley. Jack is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and spent over 51 years in his career passion for aviation.

He was employed by USAirways in the Pittsburgh Operations Control Center (aircraft dispatcher) for 41 years, then, relocated to Louisville to work for the Federal Aviation Administration at the UPS Certificate Management Office. Jack was also a volunteer at the Norton Hospital in Louisville as a Eucharistic Minister. He was an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders in Pittsburgh then, in Louisville, up until the time of his illness.

Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 14, 1945 to John A. Heinlein, MD and Evelyn (Vandenberg) Heinlein who precede him in death. In addition to his wife and son, Jack is survived by a sister, Barbara Bruderman (Tom) of Trumbull, CT and a brother, David Heinlein (Jennifer) of Port Washington, NY. He is also survived by his father-in-law, John Falbo, brothers-in-law, David and John (Lisa) Falbo and sister-in-law Janet Falbo all of Coraopolis, PA.

In addition, Jack is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jack now joins his mother-in-law, Dolores (Brasko) Falbo who recently went to heaven, along with his mother, father and other friends and relatives who have passed before him. The family would like to thank Dr. Shawn Glisson of the Norton Cancer Institute for his care and kindness and Dr. Gary Vitale, who performed a life-saving Whipple procedure extending Jack’s life in March of 2015.

In addition, special thanks to the many nurses and team members with Hosparus of Louisville for their care and support during the difficult final weeks. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4, 6-8 PM at the Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 199 McGovern Blvd.
