John “Jack” Ruthven, passed away on January 30, 2019 at the age of 85. He was born on August 16, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James D and Katherine (nee Jennie) Ruthven. He served in the US Navy from March of 1952 to January of 1956.

Jack was blessed with two children James and John Shane. He worked as a manager at Cincinnati Bell for many years. Jack met Sylvia while working together at Cincinnati Bell and they were married on November 27, 1993.

“Indiana Jack” was active in the Harrison Honor Guard up until his health prevented him from duty. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, lifetime member of American Legion Post 199 and VFW Jack enjoyed golfing, football and taking time off to relax at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Those left to cherish Jack’s memory are his loving wife: Sylvia (nee Mowry) Ruthven; children: James (Pam) Ruthven and John Shane (Gina) Ruthven; cherished grandchildren: Monica, Scott, Rachel, Eric and Sarah; and beloved sister Julie C. Fioresi.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents: James and Katherine Ruthven; and sister Jeanne Doehlman. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Brater Winter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 PM in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Harrison, OH.
