John Jr Raymond Rimes Jr , June 29, 1961 — June 11, 2018

John “JR” Raymond Rimes, Jr., 56, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. JR was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 26, 1961. As a child he moved to Hollywood, FL, graduating from South Broward High School in 1979.

He attended UCSB and UF studying Journalism. After a dear friend’s recommendations, he attended the Respiratory Therapy Program at Santa Fe College. He became a Registered Respiratory Therapist in 1986.

His career began in the NICU and PICU at Shands UF. This is where he met Susie Sinnamon, the woman who would become his beloved wife in 1992. He later worked at West Marion Community Hospital and also became Clinical Instructor at Ocala Regional Medical Center for Santa Fe’s Respiratory Therapy Program.

JR was an amazing therapist, giving compassionate, skillful care for 31 years. He was incredibly passionate about teaching and passed on his expertise to countless students who will carry on his spirit through their work. Four years ago, JR, embraced the Catholic faith and immersed himself in learning all he could about his religion.

Another of JR’s great passions was men’s Bible study group. He helped others explore their faith by sharing his experiences, insight and understanding. JR adored children and had such a kind heart.

He delighted in playing Santa, teaching card games and chess. He loved his many nieces and nephews like they were his own. He rooted enthusiastically for the Gators and loved Gator Football.

He was known fondly for his incredibly quick wit, infectious smile and laugh, and ability to share funny stories. He also greatly treasured music, attending many concerts throughout his life. He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Susie, loving family, and countless friends and coworkers, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Celebration of life Mass will be, Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 12:00 Noon at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 SE 17th St., Ocala, FL 34471. In lieu of flowers, donations to Brothers Keeper Thrift Store, 2 West Ft. King Street Ocala, Fl; In c/o Jason Halstead are greatly appreciated.
