Obituary for Mr. John Lester Schafer Jr. Schafer – John Lester Schafer, Jr., age 54, of Starke, Florida passed away on July 25, 2018 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born in Philipsburg, PA on October 27, 1965 to Gloria Blum Schafer and the late John Lester Schafer, Sr. John grew up in Tampa, Florida and graduated high school in Orlando. He joined the Army National Guard while a junior in high school and following his graduation he relocated to Camp Blanding.

John proudly served his county for 20 years as a Sergeant First Class and also a Supply person at the Army National Guard at Camp Blanding. John was an avid Miami Hurricane and NASCAR racing fan who enjoyed fishing. Most of all, John loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Lester Schafer, Sr. and his wife, Marjorie “Margie” Schafer. John is survived by his mother, Gloria Schafer of PA; his son, John David (Samantha) Schafer of Middleburg, FL; his step son, Justin Phillips of Starke, FL; his brothers, Gary (Susan) Bakken and Raymond Masey both of Starke, FL; his sister, Tammy (Kevin) Sheets of PA; his grandchildren, Makenzie Schafer and Kylie Phillips; his great uncle, Carl “Bud” Schafer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services and Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel, Starke, Fl.
