John M. Magyar, age 89 of Massillon, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Inn at University Village following a period of declining health. He was born January 20, 1929, in Middletown, Ohio to the late Michael and Anna (Dominic) Magyar. John served six years in the Air Force and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

John retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 221. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Santa (Paonessa) Magyar; sister, Anna Wolfe; brother, Edward Magyar; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 11 A.M., at Heitger Funeral Home, Massillon Chapel, 639 1st St NE, with Rev. Edward Gretchko officiating. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M. Burial to follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 408 – 9th St. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44707 or St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, 726 First St. N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646. Condolences to the family may be made here at this site.
