John “Papaw John” William Hayes, 92 , of Madisonville, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 Baptist Health Madisonville. He was born in Hopkins County, KY on July 22, 1926 to the late Johnny Hayes and Pauline Qualls Hayes. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He had worked as a coal miner for Peabody Coal Mines In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hayes and his daughter, Peggy Brasher. He is survived by his two sons: Ron Hayes and Troy Hayes both of Madisonville, KY; two sisters: Evelyn Perkins of Barnsley, KY and JoAnn Ashby of Mortons Gap, KY; two brothers: Tommy Hayes of Earlington, KY and Kenny Hayes of Madisonville, KY; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Rev.

Tim Rigdon officiating and burial to follow at a later date. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY is in charge of the arrangements.
