OBITUARY John Peyton “J.P.” Glass April 21, 1944 – November 10, 2018 John Peyton “J.P.” Glass, 74, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 surrounded by his family at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. He was born April 21, 1944, a son of the late Roy Melvin, Jr. and Helen Areline Curry. “J.P.” retired from trucking after 55 years of service, starting at Westcott Trucking, Thurston, McKee and Fauber Freightways.
He was a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed meeting his friends at Weasie’s and Waffle Inn for coffee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friends and cousins, Tommy Glass and Paul Wayne Glass. Survivors include his wife, Patsy of 47 years; daughters, Sandra and Jonathan Riley, Elizabeth and Kelli Glass, Leigh Anne and Brian Childress; a niece and nephew whom he and Patsy raised as their own, Joshua and Melanie Coffey and Jessica and Tony West; brothers, Melvin and wife, Jean, Roger and wife, Betty; sister, Bertha Rawley and husband, Terry; his 11 grandchildren of which he was proud of, Blake, Jacob, Kennedy, Ian, Landon, Ben, Bryson, Maddox, Damon, Lincoln and Wyatt; and as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Ave. , Waynesboro. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Coffey, Ricky Morris, Jonathan Riley, Brian and Blake Childress, Tony West and Joe Coffey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, Waynesboro. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rob Marsh and the staff of the Shenandoah House for their excellent care during his stay.
