OBITUARY James “Bill” Mathias Webb November 15, 1928 – December 13, 2018 James Mathias “Bill” Webb, 90, of Waynesboro, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Gibson County, Tennessee on November 15, 1928, a son of the late Allie A. and Della (Etheridge) Webb. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years.

Following his time in the service, he worked for General Electric for six and half years and then worked as a quality assurance specialist with the Department of Defense until his retirement after 15 years of service. Bill was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the Millboro Masonic Lodge, and the Craigsville Lions Club. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Betty Joyce (Peek) Webb; daughter, Rebecca A. Webb, and siblings, Miller A. Webb, Mary Sue (Webb) Curtis, Thomas D. Webb, Louise (Webb) Murphy and Anna Lou (Webb) Owens.

Survivors include his two daughters, Rosaland “Roz” Webb and Donna Joyce Webb both of Waynesboro, Virginia; five grandchildren, Keith A. Kessler and wife, Trish of Lynchburg, Virginia, Kevin W. Kessler of Lynchburg, Virginia, David Showker, IV of Staunton, Virginia, Gratia Bobbitt and husband, Miles of Raphine, Virginia, and Martia Hevener and husband, Barry of Staunton, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Rachel and Tori Kessler, James Bowen and Olivia Bobbitt, and Luke and Sadie Hevener; as well as number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, Virginia 24477, with Pastor David Sandy officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Woody Halterman, Ricky Lowery, Greg Lampert, Randy Metji, Eddie Jenkins, and Kenneth Troyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Byler, Butch McCoy, Bob Burgener, and Charles Wayne Biller The family will receive friends on Monday, December 17, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Augusta Health Foundation, Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 100, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
