Obituary for John Pope, III John Crittenden Pope, III, age 94, of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his home at Belmont Village Assisted Living. A graveside Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11am in the Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Gordon Peerman officiating.

Burial of Mr. Pope’s cremains will follow. There will be no visitation prior to the Memorial Service. Mr. Pope was born July 26, 1923 in Springfield to the late John C. and Polly Bell Pope, II.

He was an accountant and member of the Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Mr. Pope was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving in WWII. In addition to his parents Mr. Pope is preceded in death by his wife, Nancye Johnson Pope, his brother, Richard Allen Pope and his niece, Linda Pope Moss.

Mr. Pope is survived by his son, John C. (Kristi) Pope, IV of Nashville; grandchildren, John D. Pope, V, Margaret T. “Maggie” Pope and William J. Pope; and 6 loving nieces and nephews. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
