John Rodger Brummett, Sr., 73, of Laurel, formerly of Brooklyn Park, Maryland, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 due to injuries sustained in a boating accident. He was born November 9, 1945 in Roderfield, West Virginia, a son of the late John Willard Brummett and Elizabeth Boothe Brummett. Rodger graduated from Brooklyn Park High School with the class of 1963.

He retired after 30 years of service as an assembler at the General Motors factory in Dundalk. In his younger days he loved living in the city where there was a sense of community and neighbors helped each other. In 2011 he moved to the Eastern Shore to get away from the traffic and congestion of Baltimore.

He settled in immediately and loved working in his yard, cutting grass and cleaning his pool. Rodger enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer in his younger days. He will be remembered as a kind hearted, easy going man who loved life.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Marie Brummett, who he married November 28, 2011; his children, Tricia Collins (Ted, Jr.) of Delmar, John Rodger Brummett, Jr. (Barbara) of Pennsylvania, Brian Scott Brummett (Tina Du Monceau) of Elkridge, Maryland and Chelsey Thompson (Thomas) of Delmar; grandchildren, Taylor Spence (Devene), Tanner Collins (Jade), Jake Brummett, Jed Brummett, JJ Brummett, Stephanie Barlage, Kerriann Barlage, Laura Menusan, Ryan Menusan, Matthew McCann, Brooke Thompson and Tommy Thompson; great grandchildren, Sofia, Camden, Miller, Miley and Gianna; a sister, Sue Perritte (Larry) of Powder Springs, Georgia;a special nephew, Kevin Brummett; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be sorely missed by his beloved Lab, “Raven”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Patricia Ann Brummett; and a brother, Larry Brummett.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Seaford Wesleyan Church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service which begins at 12:00. Pastor David Kiser will officiate. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2019 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at McCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 3204 Mountain Road Pasadena, Maryland 21122.
