He was raised in Manhattan, lived in the Bronx and was married in 1963. He moved to Fair Lawn in the early 70s and went on to spend his golden years in Spring Hill, FL and Seaside Heights, NJ.

John passed away on March 5, 2019 peacefully in his sleep and has joined his loved ones that went before him, including loving wife Theresa and siblings: Patsy, Margie and Frankie. He is survived by his children: Carolann and husband Mark, Nicholas and wife Jeanette and grandchildren: Bryan, Juliann, John and Bridgette. John will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

John was a loving and supportive brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed a very active social life with his late wife Theresa. They were always up for a dance and entertaining.

John was an Usher at St. Theresa’s Church, 4th Degree Knight Of Columbus, a member of the VFW and The American Legion. John made friends where ever he went. Everyone knew him as John or Uncle Johnny, though to his grandchildren he was known as Poppy.

It’s wasn’t long before he was everyone’s Poppy…. in Seaside Heights, Pompton Lakes even Poppy at Charles Street Deli. John was always positive and woke up everyday with a smile and a “good morning”.

He liked watching television shows, movies, Fox News and reading. He was a fan of Frank Sinatra. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps from all over the world.

He was an herbalist, a minimalist and always up for a good debate. John loved sharing stories of his early life and family with his grandchildren. He believed anything was possible in this life.

John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
