Obituary for John S Kobera Jr. John S. Kobera, Jr., died December 7, 2018 at Green Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Fronto-Temperal Degeneration. He was born on August 22, 1942 in Montague, MA to John, Sr. and Anna (Jablonski) Kobera. He was a 1960 graduate of Turners Falls High School and was immediately accepted in the Apprentice Engineer program at General Electric.

He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1966. He was employed by Simmonds Precision for 19 years. He ended his career with General Dynamics, retiring in 2005.

He married the former Mary (Fitz) Lesage on April 18, 1998, who survives him. Survivors include his son, John Kobera lll and his wife, Heidi, and their sons Steven and Christopher of Sheldon, VT; his step-daughter Elizabeth Young and her husband, Edward, of Brooks, Maine; his step-daughter Susan Lajeunesse and her husband,Steve, and their daughters Gabrielle and Amanda of Colchester; and his step-daughter, Katherine Gallagher and her husband, Charles, and their daughter Samantha of Cambridge, VT. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Mary Kobera of Turners Falls, MA; and Marilyn Fitz of Lantana, FL.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Paul in 2011 and Bernard in 2014 and his brother-in-law, Thomas Fitz in 2011, as well as his first wife Diane St. Amour, and many aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be on Monday, December 10, from 5-7pm at LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, Winooski. A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, December 11 at 11am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Colchester.
