John Anthony DeSantis, 64 of Massillon, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018. John was born on February 17, 1954 in Canton, the son of the late Helen (Hukill) DeSantis. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1972 graduate of Washington High School.

John worked for the City of Massillon for over 30 years. Following retirement from the City of Massillon, he did maintenance at Amherst Meadows. He was a volunteer at Indian River where he received “Volunteer of Year” for his work with the inmates trying to guide them in the right direction in life.

John was a member of both the F.O.E. #190 and the Massillon Moose. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in the woods. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Dante DeSantis and his grandson, Andrew Rossetti. He is survived by his fiancée, Tina Beasley; children, Tara DeSantis, Bridget (Anthony) Orr, Matthew A. Morrison, and Thomas Bowen; grandchildren, Anthony, Andrea, and Alyssa Rossetti, Meaghan Morrison, and Haylee, Anna, Noah, and Blair Orr; sisters, Lori DeSantis and Cathy (Robert) Bruse; and many extended family. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Paquelet Funeral Home.

Pastor Debra J. Helton of Share Fellowship Church Rossford, OH will be Officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Casual attire not required, but come as John knew you. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s name to The Teddy Bear Run: Akron Children’s Hospital. Messages of comfort and support may be sent to the family at www.
