Johnnie Lou Martin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16th, in Ruleville, MS. A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19th, at Cleveland Funeral Home in Cleveland MS. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. till service at 11:00 a.m. Her nephew, Vern Avritt will officiate the service.

Johnnie Lou was born March 24, 1930, in Helm MS, to John Henry Avritt and Loueva Greer Avritt. She was the oldest of four children having 3 brothers; Travis Avritt (Barbara), Freddie Avritt (Jo) of Shaw and Charles Avritt (Ann) of Cleveland MS. She was a lifelong resident of Shaw where she was a housewife.

Johnnie was an immaculate dresser, enjoyed gardening, cooking and deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Johnnie is survived by her two sons, Paul L. Martin (Jan) of Canton, MS, John Mark Martin (Holly) of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren, John Martin, Reid Martin (Rachel), Blake Martin (Dakota), Sonni Martin, Kade Martin, Langley Martin; great grandchild, Brantley Martin, and many nieces and nephews. Johnnie Lou was preceded in death by her parents John and Loueva Avritt, husband of 52 years, Larry C. Martin and brother Travis Avritt.

Our family would like to thank caregiver, Ruby Mason, for her kindness and care for our sweet mother. We would also like to thank the staff at Walter B. Crook for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
