Obituary for Johnny Silas McConnaughhay Johnny Silas McConnaughhay, 86, of Searcy passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on April 10, 2018. He was born on January 26,1932 to the late E.B. and Clara Mae McConnaughhay in Oakland Park, Florida. Johnny was the love of Bettie’s life for the past 60 years.

He was a loving father, who taught by example to his biological children and 49 foster children. He touched many lives through his Christian construction work with the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program. He was an accomplished pilot since 1954, of which he had multi-instrument and commercial ratings.

His love of flying lead him to crop dusting the family farm, which lead to a full time Ag Operation. Even after he retired from farming, he continued to grow a large garden sharing the produce with family and neighbors. Another of his favorite past times was being a ham radio operator (K5SCE).

Johnny was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Searcy. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his loving wife Bettie Hall McConnaughhay; sons, Kenneth (Susan) McConnaughhay of Searcy and Douglas McConnaughhay of Searcy; daughters, Catherine (Ricky) Churchwell of Griffithville and Terri (James) Coats of Harrison; sister, Wanda Watson of Mountain View; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Margaret McNew and one infant brother. Visitation will be at 10:00am with a Memorial service following at 11:00am on Saturday, April 14 at Park Avenue Baptist Church of Searcy. In lieu of flowers the family ask that a donation be made to The Searcy Children’s Home, PO Box 1141, Searcy, AR 72145 or any deserving child.
