Obituary for Joseph Lanfranki Joseph A. Lanfranki, 83, a resident of Calumet passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was born on January 25, 1935 in Raymbaultown to Joseph and Rose (Rozman) Lanfranki. He attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated with the Class of 1953.
After graduating from high school, Joe enlisted with the United States Marines. After serving in the Marines, Joe went to work for Calumet & Hecla Mining Company. After the mines closed, he owned and operated Columbia Linen Service until 1996 when he retired.
On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Genevieve “Dolly” Lencioni at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Calumet. Joe loved being with his family and friends and spending time at his camp in Eagle River. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Thomas, his brother in laws: Walt Kilberg and Angelo (Ruby) Lencioni, and sister in law Delphine (Roy) Makolin.
Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolly, his five children: Joey Lanfranki of Calumet, Mary Jo (Larry) Kristapovich of Calumet, Judy (Steven) Gilbert of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Jackie (David) Aalto of Calumet, Julie (Paul) Anttila of Calumet, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Angie (Reuben) Moilanen of Calumet, brother in law Bert Thomas of Raymbaultown, his sister in law Tina Kilberg and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on September 15, 2018 at St. Anthony Hall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 pm with Father Abraham Mupparathara to officiate. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association will take place at Lake View Cemetery. A special thank you to Dr. Hafeman, Brook, Holly & Michele for their loving care and comfort over the years.
