Joseph Edward Clemons, affectionately known as “Joe” a resident of the Carlton community, was born Feb. 4, 1935 to Elizabeth Harris Clemons and Henry Clemons. Joseph was called home Wednesday, May 15, 2019 while at his home.

He was 84 years of age. Joe was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Carrie French Clemons, and this union was BLESSED with five children. A faithful and dedicated member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Carlton, he served as a steward, a treasurer, superintendent of Sunday school and a trustee.

He loved hunting, fishing and playing solitary. Joe retired from Allied Paper Mill after more than 29 years. He was a faithful member of the NAACP.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Artemelia Clemons Rocker; brother, James Clemons; two sons, Fredrick O’Neal and Jimmie Clemons Sr.; and grandson, Carey Clemons. His loving memories will forever be cherished by his loving, devoted and caring wife, Carrie Clemons of Jackson; three sons, Larry (Annette) Clemons and Patrick Clemons, both of Mobile and Michael Clemons of Jackson; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and devoted friends, James Hayden and Lenora Bumpers.
