OBITUARY Joseph F. Gonzalez, Jr. May 5, 1947 – August 21, 2018 Joseph F. Gonzalez, Jr., born May 5, 1947 passed away on August 21, 2018 at the age of 71. Joseph was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a meteorologist for the U.S. Antarctic Research Program and was certified by the Dept.

of Commerce, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. He participated in Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica observing weather conditions and providing forecast and warnings for safe aircraft operation. He was also invited by the Eskimo villagers to go whale hunting.

While stationed in Christchurch, New Zealand Joseph was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed flying planes in his younger years and was qualified to conduct official pilot weather briefings. He was preceded in death by father, Joseph F. Gonzalez, Sr.; brother, Steven S. Gonzalez and niece, Stefanie Gonzalez.

He is survived by his mother, Antonia S. Gonzalez; siblings, Dahlia Gonzalez, Ruben S. Gonzalez and wife Sylvia and brother in law, Abel L. Rodriguez; nieces and nephews, Abel J. Rodriguez, Elliot I. Rodriguez, Leslie Howard, Venus Barrera, Ruben M. Gonzales, Crystal Trevino, Kristine Gonzalez, Steven G. Gonzalez and 15 great nieces and nephews. A visitation will begin Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Trevino Funeral Home at 10am with a chapel service to be held at 12pm, Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
