Joseph Jerry McCarthy, age 84, of Toledo, died January 5, 2019 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born August 16, 1934 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Logan) McCarthy. Jerry served in the United States Army in Germany from 1957-59 and on September 12, 1959 he married Margaret Skriver in Detroit.

Surviving are his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Margaret; sons, Jeff and Patrick McCarthy; sisters, Joyce Nelms and Donna Loomis (Richard); and sister-in-law, Mary Lawson. Jerry owned and operated McCarthy Tile Company for more than 50 years and well known for his friendly nature and quality work.

He was very handy, able to fix about anything, and enjoyed golf, motorcycles, boating and antique cars. At Jerry’s request, there will be no services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Toledo Animal Shelter (toledoanimalrescue.org) or the Toledo Area Humane Society (toledohumane.org).
