Obituary for Joseph “Joe” Kub Joseph E. “Joe” Kub, 69, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018. He was home, caring for his yard and having just shared some peaceful moments in the shade with his love, Ellen, when the angels came. Joe was born November 7, 1948, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, son of the late Joseph E. and Jenni M. (Jakubowski) Kub, Sr
He grew up in Onida, South Dakota and graduated from Onida High School. He then went on to receive his Civil Engineering degree from the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota. Joe married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Ellen Lehmkuhl, on June 12, 1971.
The Wyoming Highway Department, in Cheyenne, was Joe’s first job as a Traffic Engineer. After four years, he gained experience in the private sector while working for BRW Noblitt before taking a leap of faith, with Ellen’s support, and opening his own Kub Engineering business in 1984. During this time, Joe and Ellen were blessed with their son, DJ, in 1978.
The life, love and adventures shared were Joe’s world. DJ married Amber Alvestad in 2005, and they blessed Joe and Ellen with two grandchildren, Maia and Bradey. Joe loved spending time with his family, fishing with his grandchildren, enjoying a cup of coffee, his yard work, being outside, and especially traveling the world with Ellen.
He and Ellen’s favorite adventures were visiting our national parks. Joe was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and Wyoming Society of Engineers. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen M. (Lehmkuhl) Kub, and son, DJ Kub and wife, Amber; his grandchildren, Maia and Bradey; sister, Marie Pforr and husband, Rod; and all of Ellen’s family that he dearly loved as well.
A memory service will be celebrated on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Joe’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
