Joseph “Joe” Wayne Danford, 69, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Monday afternoon, February 11, 2019 at the Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon EST on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Chaplain Dean Knipe officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City. Joe was born November 3, 1949 in Columbus, GA to the late Jessie Danford and Louella Reid Danford. He had worked with Tom’s Food in Columbus, GA until he became disabled.

His personal trait was keeping everything clean and neat. He enjoyed dancing, music, the Alabama Crimson Tide, he loved children and people and especially all his family. He was a Pentecostal by faith.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette Long, and a brother, James “Pee Wee” Danford. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Shirley Sturges Danford, children, Brandon Danford and wife Mary, Cameron Blake Danford, Alexis Danford, and Cadence Danford, four sisters, Eleanor Parker and husband Arzon, Edna Detwiler, Donna Grooms and husband JR, and Linda Satterfield and husband Mac, three brothers, Ricky Danford, Kenneth Danford, and David “Buddy” Danford and wife Patsy, (4) precious grandchildren, Colby Rathel, Brodie Danford, Brock Danford, and Danielle Walker, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
