Joseph’s Obituary Joe Phernetton (Papa) 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, at Teahen Funeral Home by Chaplain Joe Kane. Burial at a later date.

Friends may visit with the family after 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Joe is survived by his two sisters, Louise (Dave) Kurschner of Barron, WI and Margaret (Norm) Engstrom of Rice Lake, WI; his brother, Don (Wendy) Phernetton of Cumberland, WI; his daughter, Shelley and her daughter Chelsea; his son, Joey and his daughter Emily; Joe’s significant other and the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Murray, her children Scott, Mike (Kathy) and Shawn (Ray), and their children Nick, Grant, Sami, Aly and Teagan who were all like his own and he loved them all. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Aileen Donovan, Idella Ames and Shirley Swan.

Joe was born on December 1, 1937 in Chippewa Falls, WI, son of Macy and Marion Phernetton. He worked at MNB Data Processing, which became Banks of Iowa Computer Services (BICS), and introduced Instant Access (ATM) to Iowa. At BICS, Joe worked with a group of very smart wonderful people.

Life treated me well, thanks to you all, especially you Elizabeth. The Family would like to thank the Mercy Medical Center Hospice and the Mercy Hospice House staff for all their love and care during this time. Memorials may be directed to Betty.
