Obituary for Joyce McGuire Severson (Rogers) Joyce A. McGuire Severson, age 85 of Janesville died on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Janesville. She was born in Wonewoc, WI on February 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Bewford and Meryl (Jackson) Rogers. Joyce graduated from Wonewoc High School where she was honored to be elected Prom Queen by her classmates.

Joyce later moved to Footville where she met her future husband, George E. “Mickey” McGuire. They were married on December 7, 1952 and he predeceased her on March 3, 1986. She later married Boyd M. Severson on January 17, 1992 and he predeceased her on January 16, 2017.

Joyce was a very happy, loving, and grateful woman who was full of life. She not only raised her children, she welcomed their many friends into her home & her life, for her entire lifetime. She always introduced herself as; “Hi I’m Grandma Joyce, I’m everybody’s grandma”.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing Yahtzee, playing card games, travelling, and trips to the casinos. She was very generous, loved socializing, and spending time at her favorite restaurant, the Eagle Inn, where she was treated like family. With her fun & sassy personality, she was known to color her white hair with tips of green on St. Patrick’s Day, and blue & gold for the family Brewer games in Milwaukee.

Her joyous smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children: Randy (& Karen) McGuire of Muskego, WI, Rich (Nyla) McGuire of Footville, Ron McGuire of Arlington, TX, Don “Otter” (Darla) McGuire of Footville, and Kim (Jean) Rogers of Janesville; grandchildren who she adored: Sara (Luke), David, Abby, Megan (Rob), Morgan (Mike), Taylor, and Makia; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, two husbands: George and Boyd, she was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law: Mary Beth and Terry Goplin; and two sisters: Evelyn Jacobs and Rhea Schwartz; and two brothers: Harlan and Cleo.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Whitcomb – Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow at Mt.

Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
