Obituary After a long and productive life, Joyce Beverly Metzner, of Foothill Ranch, CA passed away on March 10, 2019 in Laguna Hills, CA at the age of 84 with her children Sheree and Dale by her side. Joyce was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 18, 1934. She lived in Grand Rapids most of her life, working at Acme Heating & Cooling for many years before finishing her working career in the offices at the old Eastbrook Mall.

Joyce graduated from Central High School in Grand Rapids at the age of 16. She married the late Albert Metzner in 1952 and they started their life together in southwest Michigan, eventually settling in the Grand Rapids area. They had 3 children, Craig, Dale and Sheree.

She was a very loving mother and was always available to her family. Her favorite activities always centered around her family. She attended many events for her children and then her grandchildren and was always a visible spectator at their sporting events.

All she ever wanted was to know how her family was doing and was delighted to share in their lives. She had a great sense of humor, was remarkable in her strength of character, loved the Michigan Wolverines and Clemson Tigers, traveling to Hawaii, sitting on the beach surrounded by palm trees and listening to the crashing waves. She touched the lives of so many and leaves behind wonderful memories for all who knew her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years in 1984. She was also predeceased by her mother Mildred Weemhoff, her stepfather Larry Weemhoff, her brother Ron (Linda) Weemhoff, her nephew Steven Metzner, and niece Paula Metzner. She is survived by her children Craig (Sharon) Metzner of Springfield, MO, Dale (Karen) Metzner of Wyoming, MI, Sheree Metzner (Lewis Finkelstein) of Foothill Ranch, CA, and Lela (Joe) Wickman, MI.

She is also survived by her brothers Howard (Alice) Perrin of Hudsonville, MI and Jim (Terry) Weemhoff of Niceville, FL. Joyce had 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A service will be held on March 18, 2019 at Christ Lutheran Church at 11:00 with a special viewing at 10:00.

The church is located at 2350 44th Street, SW, Wyoming, MI. A light lunch will be served immediately following the service. Joyce’s final resting place is at Woodlawn Cemetery.
