Joyce Ann Dixon, 56, of Elmhurst, IL passed away January 6, 2019 at The Grove, Elmhurst. Services will be Noon on Friday January 18, 2019 at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 11:00am to service time.

Memorials may be left for the family. She was born at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois on September 7, 1962 to George Powell and Mandie Shaw Dixon(Lawer Dixon). Her parents and sister Ruth Ann Dixon Thomas preceded her in death.

Joyce attended Antonin Dvorak Elementary in Chicago, Illinois, and she graduated from Rock Island High School in Rock Island, Illinois in 1981. Joyce cherished caring for the sick and the disabled, and she sought out and was accomplished in many fields of nurturing people. She attended Scott Community College for medical assistant.

Joyce graduated from Blackhawk School of Nursing in Moline, Illinois 1986. She was a certified phlebotomist and, a CDL truck driver. She accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as her personal savior at the age of eleven, when she attended Greater Progressive Baptist Church under guidance of Pastor H.Y. Linzy.

Joyce was a member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor William Grimes, and then became a parishioner at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Moline, Illinois under the guidance of Rev. Larry D. Dixon Sr. Several years ago, Joyce moved to Keokuk, Iowa where she joined New Bethel Church under the tutelage of Pastor Debra Letcher. Joyce loved playing cards, playing dominoes.

To relish in her memory and bask in her legacy, Joyce leaves her daughter Omotayo Asunmo Miller, (LaSean ), her sons Antonio Dixon, and De’Allo Wells. Her sisters, Cindy Renee Carrol, Etheal Dixon Gore, (Fred Bobby, deceased), Patricia Downing. Brothers Franklin Powell, Tommy Powell, Cornelius Dixon, (Creabessie), Michael Dixon, (Michelle), Benny Dixon, (Ida), Lawer Dixon Jr., (Debra), Pastor Larry Dixon, ( Loredia) and, Marcus Dixon.

Grandchildren, Jordan Qasem, Shaniya and Shiloh Miller; special loved ones, Kay Wells, Lisa Wright, Andrew Asunmo and Travis Wells, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
