Obituary for Joyce J. Rolfe — Sullivan On Thursday, August 16, 2018 following a brief illness, Joyce J. Rolfe Sullivan, 93 years young, went home to be with her Lord and joined loved ones who went before her. Joyce was born on April 6, 1925 in Barton, NY the youngest of five children of Franklin L. and Myrtie D. (Bensley) Parker. Joyce was raised in Spencer and was a graduate of Spencer High School.

After graduation, she worked as a waitress at Mountain Top Restaurant, in Waverly until her first marriage in 1943. She then settled in Nihcols, NY to raise a family and help her husband with a home business. Joyce was an active member of the Nichols United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star where she served as Matron in 1960.

When her marriage ended in the late 1960’s Joyce worked as a sales person for Hallwares’ Wholesale in Nichols, NY, later buying the business which she ran until the mid 1970’s. Joyce later served as Director of Elder Guild Senior Craft Cooperative, Towanda, Pa and took courses at Broome Community College. Joyce found lifetime joy in spending time with her family, gardening, reading her Bible and inspirational and mystery books, feeding the birds and squirrels, and tending to her family pets.

Joyce also enjoyed traveling with her second husband John “Jack” F. Sullivan who she married in 1992. Joyce will be greatly missed by her children: Donna J. (Thomas) Rolfe-Johnson; Denise J. Rolfe; Gary R. (Barbara) Rolfe; Donald J. Rolfe; step daughter Kathleen “Katie” Sullivan O’Brien Regnosky. Her grandchildren: David Johnson, Terry Johnson, Donnie Jo Johnson, Katherine “Kitt” (Mark) Johnson Brown; Gregory Rolfe, Timothy (Samantha) Rolfe; Samantha Jo (Thomas) Rolfe Dougherty; Kelle Jo (Matt) Rolfe Matsko; Tanya Rae (Jay) Rolfe Collins; step-grandchildren: Tracy Murtha; Paula Brown; her great grandchildren: Matthew and Miranda Johnson, Mariah Johnson, Fiona and Jack Dougherty, Liam and Owen Rolfe, Dillon and Jayla Houser, Gabriel and Tanner Matsko.

Step great grandchildren: Brandi, Kayla, Joseph, Cole, Justin and a step great great grandson Mason. Joyce was predeceased by her former husband Donald R. Rolfe; second husband John F. “Jack” Sullivan; her granddaughter Jessica Lyndsey Vasques Rolfe, a daughter-in-law Midge Rolfe, her parents Franklin L. and Myrtie D. Parker; her siblings: Franklin Parker, Gladys (Clare) Vogel, Thelma (Bill) Landis, Russell Parker. Abiding with Joyce’s wishes there will be no services.

The family will gather at a later date to lay Joyce to rest with her husband Jack in the Nichols Cemetery.
