Joyce Marie Pennell, 74 of Petoskey, died December 31, 2018 at the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital. Joyce was born on May 19, 1944 in Petoskey, the daughter of Thomas and Lila (Jenkins) Leist and was raised in Horton Bay. She attended Boyne City schools before transferring to Petoskey High School where she later graduated from.

On July 1, 1961, Joyce married the love of her life, Hobart “Bud” Pennell and the two made their home in Petoskey. Joyce loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed biking and canoeing. She is survived by her husband, Bud; son, David Lee (Polly) Pennell of Rochester, MI; 3 siblings, Alma Leist, Gail Howie, and Harry Leist; and by many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; and by 2 siblings, Burton Leist and Rosie Kolinske. Funeral services celebrating Joyce’s life will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 2pm at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday at the funeral home form 1pm until the time of service.

Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
