Mrs. Joye Barnette Campbell, 94, of Jud Smith Road, Taylorsville, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Valley Nursing Center. Joye was born January 8, 1924 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Floyd G. Barnette and Maude Deal Barnette. She had worked as an inspector of furniture before retiring from Broyhill Furniture.

She was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church, who sang in the choir and sang gospel music with her family. Joye loved to cook, especially cakes and pies for her family and friends. Her family was her joy.

She enjoyed cooking for the fire department to help with benefits and also loved to travel and shop. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Frank Campbell, the love of her life, who she married on May 4, 1942; a brother, Fred Barnette; a grandchild, Bryan Campbell. Those left to cherish her memory include: a daughter, Loretta C. Weaver and husband, Danny, of Taylorsville; two sons, Jim Campbell and wife, Laura, of Statesville, Johnny Campbell and wife, Crystal, of Taylorsville; seven grandchildren, Darrin Weaver and wife, Lavonda, Annette Warren and husband, Mark, Donavan Campbell and wife, Kayla, Stephanie Wright and husband, Rob, Chassidy Campbell and fiancé, Tuffer Howell, Candace Miller and husband, Taylor, Morgan Campbell and fiancé, Payton Brown; six great-grandchildren, Adele Warren, Averi Warren, Anna Wright, Jett Wright, Jaken Campbell, Liam Miller.

The Home-going service will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church. Revs. Bill Smith, Taylor Miller and Roger Elmore will officiate.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to: Alexander County Hospice, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
