Obituary for Judieth E. “Judi” Scott Judi Scott Judieth Elaine Martin was born on 9/28/48 in Escondido, California into the loving home of Edward and Dorothy Martin. She joined her 3 year old brother Ron. Judi’s early life was dominated and complicated by Polio, in which she spent a year in an iron lung.

Her mother and aunt were constantly at her bedside. She beat Polio and became an excellent swimmer as well. Upon graduating from Escondido High School where she was an exceptional student, she was accepted at San Diego State University.

Before school began late that summer, she and two girlfriends, visited relatives near Lake Tahoe. Like any smart young women they decided to tent camp near the dump at the state park in the hopes to see some bears – and guess what? Bears were present.

Frightened, the three spent the night in the public restroom. The next day they moved as far from the dump as possible… Right next to three young cougars from Washington State University. Those three young Cougars could not believe their eyes.

Three beautiful, tanned young women from Escondido camped right next to them! The sparks flew between Mike and Judi and after a two year, long distance courtship, they married August of 1968. They both enrolled in the fall of 1968 at WSU to complete their degrees.

That winter of 1968/69 at WSU saw temperatures in Pullman drop to -50 Degrees Fahrenheit. In 1970, with college degrees in hand, Mike and Judi moved to Yakima and later back to Wenatchee. Mike began working for the Mathison Family at Stemilt, and Judi began working for Wenatchee Valley Clinic in the Lab, working with her mentor and manager, Barb Smith.

Mike and Judi began flipping houses, working before and after work to build equity. Tim was born in 1972, followed by Chris in 1975. Judi juggled parenting and working, and eventually ended up moving her employment to Central Washington Hospital laboratory.

Mike and Judi bought their first property in Rock Island and planted a cherry orchard. Judi never shied away from work. She and Mike continued to work full time jobs, parent, flip houses, and grow an orchard business.

Both boys graduated from Wenatchee High School and went off to Eastern Washington University to continue their studies and play football. Mike and Judi spent every weekend cheering on the boys in the fall all over the country. By then, Judi had taken over as manager of the Lab at Central Washington Hospital and spent additional time in Quality Control and training staff.

In the fall of 2000, once the boys were finished playing football, she and Mike began their adventure of growing wine grapes and making wine. With all of her lab experience, Judi made certain Mike remained out of the mad scientist roll. Judi was overjoyed when the grandkids started appearing.

First with Grace, Cole and Tess from Tim and Becky, then with Riggin and Ryder from Chris and Paula. Judi relished the role of Grandma with a passion and retired in 2013 to babysit Ryder. The wine business continued to grow and Judi kept up the books and enjoyed welcoming the public into Martin Scott Winery in East Wenatchee.

She enjoyed the company of both new and familiar faces who all came to enjoy the view, camaraderie, and of course, the wine. Mike and Judi recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 23rd of 2018. Judi enjoyed bible study and strengthening her relationship with Jesus Christ in her recent years.

On 1/16/2019, Judi passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father unexpectedly following a surgical complication. Judi is survived by her husband Mike; brother Ron Martin; son Tim, his wife Becky and their three children, Grace, Cole and Tess; son Chris, his wife Paula and their two children Riggin and Ryder. Please join us for a Celebration of Life at Sage Hills Church in Wenatchee on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 3p.m. Arrangements assisted by Chapel of the Valley, Wenatchee.
