Obituary for Mrs. Judith Garner Judith Ann Hughes Garner, 74, of Asheboro, went to her heavenly home Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 31, at 11:00 am at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, Asheboro with the service following at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Randy Browder and her stepson Pastor Jeff Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.

Judy was born in Chelsea, MA on October 29, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Loretta Atkinson Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Everett Hughes, nephew, William Pearson, and nieces Randi Carol Sullivan and Teresa Street.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie of the home; sons, Steve Thompson, of Sioux City, IA, Jeffery Thompson, of Asheboro, Mike Thompson and wife Tabatha, of Seagrove, Horace Thompson and wife Lisa, of Asheboro; stepsons, Steve Garner and wife Kim, of Asheboro, Jeff Garner and wife Wendy, of Asheboro, and Larry Garner and wife Louisa; sisters, Brenda Turner, of Staley, Faye Street, of VA, Pandi Carstens and husband David, of Pinconning, MI; brothers, Robert Hughes and wife Annette, of Asheboro, Larry Hughes and wife Linda, of Franklinville, Joe Paul Hughes, of Atlantic Beach, NC, Eddie Hughes and wife Millie, of Asheboro; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; special friends, Roger and Vickie Maness, of Troy, and many other friends who knew affectionately as Mama Judy. She was retired from KlopmanMills/Burlington Industries with over 30 years of service. After retirement she lovingly took care of mother until her time of death.

She then worked at Caraway Conference Center for several years. Her last career was working at her family owned business SAKS Diner and Drive Thru where she prepared scrumptious desserts. Judy was a gifted person.

Her hobbies included painting, crafting, flower arranging, and baking. In her younger years she was Captain of the softball team and was known to “knock ‘em out of the park”. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed baking all their favorite dishes.

She loved God and her church family at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. She served on the Missions Committee and decorated the church for special occasions, she was Head of the Food Team and served many families while they were grieving, she was the coordinator of the Adult Bible Class Card Ministry. Nothing gave Judy more joy than to take a “Day Trip” with her husband Donnie.

Judy touched and enriched our lives in so many different ways. She will be missed until we meet again. Cemetery Details Randolph Memorial Park 4538 US Highway 220 Bus.
