Obituary for Mrs. Thelma Smith Thelma Ann Hughes Smith, 80, of Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at High Point Medical Center in High Point. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro. with Rev.

Barry Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Farmer Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A native of Randolph County, NC, Mrs. Smith was born August 28, 1938, the daughter of the late Henry Wilson and Annie Bertha Varner Hughes.

She had worked as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Smith; brothers, Charlie, Walter, Gene, Hubert, Robert; sisters, Carrie and Lucy. Mrs. Smith is survived by her sister, Jane Cheek of Asheboro; brother, Don Hughes and wife, Alma, of Seagrove; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2018, at Ridge Funeral Home.
