Julie Jean Lavold , January 20, 1954 — July 14, 2018

Julie Jean Lavold, 64, of Bemidji, MN died Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.

She was born January 20, 1954, in International Falls, MN the daughter of Clarence “Spike” and June (Brown) Polus. She was raised and educated in International Falls graduating from High School in 1972. … Read More » She worked at the Rainy Lake Lodge in International Falls, where she met Jay Lavold, from 1977 until 1978.

In 1978 she began her career as a Nurses Aide at the Falls Memorial Hospital until moving to Northglen, Colorado in 1981. She married Jay Lavold on February 14, 1981 in Northglen, CO. They lived in Greeley, CO from 1983 until 1985.

She worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, CO from 1981 until 1985. She moved with her family in 1985 to Willmar, MN, and finally settled in Bemidji, MN in 1986, as a stay at home Mom. She began working at Cedar Cottage care home in 2000, until her retirement in 2018.

Even outside of work, she was a caregiver to everyone, always putting everyone else before herself. She had a heart of gold, and could put a smile on even the saddest of faces. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, and her annual girls weekend.

She especially enjoyed spending time with family, playing, having sleepovers, and dancing with her grandbabies. We will miss you always, you’re forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter Melissa Polus.
