Obituary for Kaleen Tiber Kaleen Tiber passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 due to complications from recent falls. She was 90 years-old. Mrs. Kaleen Tiber was a native Kansas Citian dedicated to social, cultural and political causes.

For more than 15 years, she volunteered with the Kansas City Symphony and was previously President-Elect of the Women’s Committee of the Symphony. Kaleen was also a long-standing, dedicated volunteer at KCPT, the local public television station, and served on the KCPT Public Advisory Board for several years. Kaleen was a life-long member of the Kansas City Chapter of the League of Women Voters and had served as Co-President of the Kansas City Chapter.

In addition, she volunteered at the Kansas City, Missouri, Public Library. She traveled widely to Europe, Russia, Israel, and made frequent trips to Mexico. In her later years, she graduated with honors from Rockhurst University, and spent an educational semester abroad in Xalapa, Mexico.

Kaleen was an avid reader – especially of political and historic literature — and was passionate about physical fitness, with a special fondness for yoga. Kaleen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Steven Miller, of Columbia, MO and her son, Stephen, and his husband, Darrell, of Washington, DC. As she wished, there is no funeral planned and her remains will be cremated.

If one chooses to make a donation in her memory, the family requests that contributions be made to the Kansas City Symphony.
