Karen Howell, 70, of Urbana, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 in Mercy Health Urbana Hospital. She was born December 18, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Vearl Gene “Tom” and Delores Louella (Petrisak) Glosser. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathy Sue Rinker Allen.

Karen earned her associates degree in 1991 from Edison State and worked as an RN in Mercy Hospital in Urbana, Ohio, Heartland of Urbana and Green Hills Nursing Home. Karen also worked as a tax preparer for Liberty Tax in Bellefontaine & Springfield and a secretary to the missionaries of the West Central Southern Baptist Association. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting in her free time.

Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Romer D. “R.D.” Howell; her daughters, Angie (Thomas) Laudermilk and Andrea (Matthew) Slack; her son, Ashley Howell; her aunt, Dorothy Barrie; and her niece, Karla Sands. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Mill Creek Cemetery, Todd, North Carolina. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
