Mrs. Karen Raye Shawl, 72, passed away Monday morning, March 25, 2019, in Muskegon. She was born October 29, 1946 to Conrad H. and Alice M. (Mengel) Damm in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Karen was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church, enjoyed knitting and ceramics, and was the owner of Nana’c Day Care.

In 1966 Karen married Larry A. Shawl, and he survives her along with 4 children: Scott (Marilyn) Shawl, KellyJo Shawl, Ken (Alisa) Shawl, Jason (Kristin) Shawl; 17 grand and 11 great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Mike (Tracy) Damm. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother: Jeff Damm. A private family service will be held at a later date.
