Karey Lou Schmidt July 19, 1932 – January 05, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Karey Lou Schmidt, age 86 of Brandon, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Karey was born on July 19, 1932, a daughter of Roy and Alice (Peck) Bremer. On August 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Schmidt in Brandon, WI.

Early in life, Karey was active in girl scouts and cub scouts. Her first job was as a secretary in Waupun for the law office of Glen Wilson. Karey was a bookkeeper for Zoellner Well Drilling in Brandon and the village clerk of Brandon for a number of years.

She also assisted her husband while he was a member of the Brandon Fire Department. Karey was active on the Brandon Library board and Brandon Historical Society as well as an active member of the Brandon United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included traveling with family, camping, gardening and collecting antiques.

Karey is survived by her two children, Patrick (Sara) Schmidt of Pittsville and Roberta (Chris) Ryskoski of Brandon; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Dustin, Bayley, Emily (Aaron) and Jake (Yahinness); seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Preston, Rivers, Jocelyn, Nelly, Sylvie and Eva; one sister-in-law, Phyllis (Dave) Williams; two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Chris) Schmidt and Don Leisten; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; one sister, Barb Leisten and one brother, Hale (Diane) Bremer. Visitation for Karey will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the Brandon United Methodist Church, 107 East Washington Street, Brandon.

A memorial service for Karey will be held at 5:00 P.M. at the church with Pastor AHyun Lee officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Public Library, 116 East Main Street, Brandon. Kohls Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.
