Karl’s Obituary Karl Gwynn Collett, age 49, regained his freedom on March 7, 2019 in Glendale, Arizona. He was an Arizona native, born in Douglas. He graduated high school from Valley Union High School and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the North Carolina, Charlotte Mission.

Upon returning, he eloped to Las Vegas to marry Holly Jo Tenney (in the LDS temple with family and friends in attendance). He is welcomed to his heavenly home in the open arms of his father and mother, Robert Collett Sr. and Patricia Solomon, and brother Robert Collett Jr. Missing him the most will be his wife, Holly, his sons Stephen (Brittanya), Andrew (Valerie), and Treyver Collett; his sisters Darleen Brook, Nina Hughes, Sandy (Ashley) Matteson, and Trish (Tim) Santiago; and his brothers David (Laura) Collett and Roger Collett. His grandchildren Nevaeh, Caulder, Noelle, Natalye, Harper, and baby Collett to come were the joys of his life.

Nieces, nephews, cousins, and even little strangers enjoyed rides on his electric wheelchair. His wife lamented his many hobbies, which included ham radio, leatherworking, and electronics. Despite being confined to a wheelchair for over 20 years, Karl volunteered in many organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, Community Emergency Response Team, and Snowflake Jr. High in the STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) class.

For his service, the Boy Scouts of America awarded him the District Award of Merit, the Extra Miler Award, the Silver Owl, and the Silver Beaver. He will be missed by many for his quick wit and ability to take life’s challenges and make lemonade. A viewing will be held at the Silver Creek Stake Center at 309 W Willow Ln.

in Taylor, Arizona at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2019, followed by services at 10:00 am and interment at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery.
