OBITUARY Kathleen Davis May 26, 1921 – December 7, 2018 Funeral service for Kathleen B. Davis, 97, of Anniston, will be 12pm Tuesday, December 11th, 2018 at 1st United Methodist Church at Saks with Revs. Sandy Felton and Bob Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:30am until service time at the church. Mrs. Davis passed away Friday at her residence. Survivors include her daughters Kathy D. Welch (Dale) of Alexandria, AL and Nancy Martin (Randy) of Smithfield, UT; son Col.

(Ret. ) Edwin F. Davis Jr. (Debi) of Fortson GA; grandchildren Amy Vaughn (Jason), Cody Davis, Ryan Martin, Garrett Martin, Megan Martin, and Amber Gambale; great-grandchildren Baylee Grayson, Reece Washburn, and Jarrin Vaughn; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Edwin F. Davis Sr.; and parents Wiley and Erie Bryant Barkley Pallbearers will be Cody Davis, Roy Roberts, Garrett Martin, Ryan Martin, Jason Vaughn, Dale Welch, and Randy Martin.

Mrs. Davis was a native of North Carolina. She was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College. From there, she attended Auburn University where she earned her Masters Degree while majoring in math and English.

She was a member of Lambda Camp Alpha Delta Cappa, Anniston Civics Club, Saks Homemaker, and local AARP. She was the first female at Saks to be “Chairman of the Board”. She was a loyal member of First United Methodist Church at Saks since 1960, where she taught fellowship for over 40 years.

She also served many offices in local and district United Methodist Women clubs. Mrs. Davis loved gardening in flowers and shrubs. She loved reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing Sudoku.

She loved to play bridge and many other card games. She was most famous for her sourdough bread and sweet pickles. She loved visits with her family and friends.

She was a devoted Christian woman who loved her church family; and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Alacare Hospice and to Riley for her loving care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 1st United Methodist Church at Saks.
