Kathleen Jane Miller, 73, of Springdale Twp. , passed away Friday April 27, 2018 in her home. She was born in New Kensington on May 5, 1944 to the late Leonard and Nina McIntyre Hochbein and has been a life long resident of the community.

Kate was a member of the Sarver Wesleyan Methodist Church. Everyone who knew her well called her Nana, Mom or Kate. She loved her hometown of Springdale.

She was proud to be Irish! Aside from her family, her passions were sewing, gardening, reading, camping and traveling with her best friend/beloved husband Al. As an excellent seamstress and avid reader; all her grandchildren grew up having handmade Christmas pajamas and sitting on Nana’s lap to read a story.

Her smiling Irish eyes and “Nana hugs “will be greatly missed. A special thank you to our Grane Hospice team for helping us make her journey peaceful. Surviving her are: Daughter’s Debra (TJ) Hank of Rural Valley Rebecca (Patrick) Crise of Rural Valley Elizabeth (Robert Jr.) Welteroth Myers of Castle Shannon Son Matthew (Lynn) Welteroth of Freeport Step-daughter Amy Miller Kulkowski Brother Leonard “Bud” (Paulette) Hochbein of Cabot Brother William (Dena) Hochbein of Saxonburg Brother Daniel Hochbein of Springdale 10 grandchildren Tanner, Adam, Shannon, Kyle, Madison, Jarret, Tyler, Sean, Andy and Riley.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Alvin L Miller. Friends will be received on Tuesday May 1st to celebrate her life from 4pm until time of services at 6:45pm in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC. 801 Pgh.
