Madison Avenue, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery, Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Kelly passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma. Kelly Payne Ricks was born September 25, 1962, in Lubbock, Texas to James Richard Payne and Patricia Whittington Payne. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1967 where Kelly attended Putnam City schools, graduating from Putnam City West with the class of 1980.

While in high school, Kelly was a member of the Oklahoma City Jets National Championship Softball Team. Kelly met the love of her life, Dusty Ricks, while both attended Oklahoma State University. The two were united in marriage on June 2, 1984 in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

To this union Colby Clayton Ricks was born September 25, 1986, completing her young family. While making a house a home for her husband and young son, she completed her Elementary Education degree at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Kelly touched the lives of many young students in her 28 years of teaching Kindergarten and Elementary Physical Education at Blanchard Public Schools.

She was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and the Oklahoma Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Kelly was a member of the Blanchard Church of Christ, where she took joy in helping with the annual vacation bible school. Kelly had the heart of a servant.

She was usually the first to minister to those in need with a warm meal, a smile and an encouraging word. In her spare time, Kelly enjoyed golfing with family and taking care of her cattle. She cherished the days spent with Colby in the barn working show calves and then later enjoyed taking care of her momma cows.

Kelly’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, and especially being GiGi to her grandson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Mary Whittington, and J.L. and Ruby Payne. She is survived by her husband, Dusty Ricks, of Blanchard; one son, Colby Ricks and his wife, Chelsea, of Blanchard; one grandson, Colter Ricks; her parents, Jim and Pat Payne of Burneyville, Oklahoma; one brother, Ray Payne and his wife, Debby, also of Burneyville; sister-in-law Dodie Schneberger and husband DaWayne of Blanchard; nephews Travis Payne and wife Candice of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Austin Payne and wife Charlene of Harker Heights, Texas, Casey Schneberger of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Levi Schneberger and wife Katie of Blanchard, Oklahoma; great nephews and niece Maverick, Riley, Trigger, and Paisley; family members, friends and many loved ones.
