Kenneth “Ken” Engel, age 90 years, formerly of Milwaukee and West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2018 at Village at the Falls Retirement Community in Menomonee Falls surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born on May 15, 1928 in Milwaukee to Roman and Bertha Engel (Hoefer). He was united in marriage to Dolores P. Lyrenmann on March 11, 1950 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

Ken graduated from Waukesha High School in 1947. He served his community as a Firefighter in the City of Milwaukee and retired in 1987 after 34 years of dedicated service. Ken was recording secretary of Milwaukee Firefighters Local 215 and was also past president of the Retired Fire and Police Association for 27 years.

He was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed camping, fishing and the outdoors. Those Ken leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 68 years, Dolores; his two children, Michael (Mary) Engel and Cheryl (Thomas) Lemke; three grandchildren, Sara Klatt, Alexander Engel and Austin Engel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore “Ted” (Marion) Engel. Funeral Service for Ken will be held at 12 Noon on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Myrhum Patten Miller Kietzer Funeral Home (1315 W Washington St. – West Bend, WI 53095). Inurnment at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

Ken’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 10 am until the time of service. Ken’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Heartland Hospice for the loving care they provided. The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home of West Bend has been entrusted with Ken’s arrangements.
