Leona A. “Lee” Westphal, 97, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Bend. Lee was born on February 2, 1922, in the town of Wayne, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Hedwig (nee Pluedemann) Terlinden. On June 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Westphal at Zion Lutheran Church in the town of Wayne.

Chuck preceded Lee in death on May 30, 1997. Lee ran Chuck and Lee’s Bar in Newburg with her husband for 54 years. She loved all sports from NASCAR to Brewers, Packers, and the Badgers and enjoyed going to casinos.

Lee was very active with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Bend and being involved in bible class. Those Lee leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Connie Puerling, James (Mary) Westphal, and Judy (Ron “Oakie”) Strassman; nine grandchildren, John (Patty) Beimborn, Loren (Lisa) Beimborn, Brenda (Shawn) Boudry, Dave (Laurie) Beimborn, Dan Beimborn, Amy Szerbowski, Tricia (Chad) Butzke, James (Sarah) Westphal Jr., and Michael Westphal; 18 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Terlinden and Harold Terlinden; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Walters; true friends, Joan and Jerry Krug; other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Lee was preceded in death by three children, Ronald Westphal, Patricia Westphal, and Charles Westphal Jr.; two sons-in-law, John Beimborn Sr. and Jerome Puerling; a grandson, Steve Szerbowski; three brothers, Wilmer Terlinden, Arthur (Pearl) Terlinden, and Alvin Terlinden; a sister, Arlene (Roy) Stark; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Terlinden, Patricia Terlinden, Kathryn (Alois) Neuburg; two brothers-in-law, Alvin (Nita) Westphal and Charles Walters.

Funeral services for Lee will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 777 Indiana Avenue, in West Bend. Rev. Robert Hein will officiate and burial will follow at Washington County Memorial Park.

Lee’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, in West Bend on Thursday, February 28, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Bend from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is appreciated. The Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Homes have been entrusted with Lee’s arrangements.
