Obituary for Kenneth E. Smith Kenneth E. Smith, 69, of Port Byron, Illinois, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at home. Services will be private. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Ken was born July 22, 1949, in Bellevue, Ohio, the son of Kyle and Verna (Price) Smith. He married Barbara Rader on November 23, 1968, in Girard, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. He was an engineer in the electrical and nuclear fields before going to work for the Rock Island Arsenal, from which he retired.

He enjoyed working with his hands, especially carpentry, and was seemingly always working on remodeling his home. His family and all of his pets over the years were also very important to Ken. Ken is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Barbara; two children, Konrad Smith of Port Byron, and Jennifer (Chris) Allen of Winterset, Iowa; three grandchildren, Isabelle Smith, and Brandon and Torrie Allen; siblings, James (Neal) Smith, Bill (Trish) Smith, Barbara Bocanegra, and Deb (Jim) Holcomb; and many nieces and nephews.
