Potts, Kenneth F. (75) of Lakewood, CA passed away on Tuesday, March 27th, 2018. Kenny, Ken, Sweetheart, Dad and Poppa to those who loved him. He was born on Saturday, April 25th, 1942 in North Carolina to Benjamin F. Potts (deceased) and Mable Potts (deceased).

He began as a rigger for the US Naval Shipyard and remained employed for 30+ years, retiring as a GM-13 Superintendent in 1998. As a person who cannot sit still and had to remain active, he continued to work. He worked for La Mirada Country Club for several years as a bar manager but found a true passion in Locksmithing.

He went to school to become a locksmith and held several certificates in his trade. He owned and operated Potts Mobile Lock and Key. A truly remarkable and generous man who wanted to share his knowledge, he decided to teach others.

He was a Locksmith instructor for several years, teaching in a small classroom at Calvary Baptist Chapel. He was known to many as a jack-of-all-trades. A simple man, he was loved and will be missed deeply by those he loved dearly.

Ken passed away unexpectedly at Long Beach Memorial Hospital from a traumatic fall that left him comatose for several days until he decided to join his maker on March 27th, 2018. Beloved “Husband” to his living wife Carmelita. Beloved “Dad” to his living children, Tim (Susan) Potts, Kim (Alan) Myers, Rica (Fred) Valtairo and Jonathan (Irma) Potts.

He was the beloved “Poppa” to his 10 living grandchildren, Jennifer “Nikki” Potts, Justin “JT” Potts, Patrick Myers, Joshua “Frog” Valtairo, Asa Myers, Chole Valtairo, Audrey Potts, Jacob Potts, Jonah Valtairo and Riley Potts. Also a beloved brother to his surviving sister, Linda (Hank) Boardman and beloved uncle to Barry and Karen. He was truly loved by his beloved pet companion, Shelby.

Visitation will be on Friday April 6th, 2018 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Stonebridge Funeral and Cremation Services. 17409 Woodruff Ave. , Bellflower CA 90706.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at 11:00 AM Calvary Baptist Church. 14722 Clark Ave. , Bellflower CA 90706.
