Obituary for Kenneth Pittman Kenneth L. Pittman, age 93 of Columbus, died Monday January 7, 2019. He was born on October 19, 1925 in Galion Ohio and graduated from Galion HS in 1943. He received his BS Degree in Marketing and Advertising from Ohio State University in 1951.

He served in the US Army as a crew member of a B-24 Liberator bomber, and was with the US occupation forces in Kassell, Germany. He joined the US Air Force, commissioned as a second Lieutenant and served for 21 years, assigned to Inspector Generals, Washington Command, as a special agent with the rank of Major. He was then assigned to Alaska during the Cold War for seven years in training for Arctic Survival Conditions.

Kenneth was also employed by the State of Ohio for 21 years, retiring in December of 1988. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. Ken is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty Louise (Longenecker) whom he married in Anchorage, Alaska.

He is survived by his daughter Kara A. Pittman, grandson Ellessar Petros, Nephews Dennis, Terry, and Chris and many of his late wife’s cousins in Illinois. Ken always felt very fortunate to have many loving relatives, neighbors, friends and acquaintances; and he wants you to know he loves you in turn. May the Bible’s good angels be with you and yours!

Friends may call Friday January 11, 2019 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High Street in Worthington for a gathering of friends. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the WUMC Library fund or your favorite charity in his memory.
